📍 Local Knowledge

Port de Mataro in Catalunia is an exposed breakwater break with inconsistent surf that frequently remains flat during the summer months. The best conditions occur when a south-southwest swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the northwest. The spot offers some shelter from southwest winds and mainly produces left-hand waves along the breakwater that are surfable at all stages of the tide. It very rarely gets crowded, though surfers should remain cautious of hazards including rips and rocks.
