Platja de Lloret is a fairly exposed beach break that offers its most consistent surfing opportunities during the autumn and winter months, while the summer is typically flat. It performs best when a strong south or southeast swell combines with offshore winds from the north or northwest. Most of the waves arrive in the form of local windswells, producing a variety of left and right-hand peaks across the sandy shoreline that can become quite punchy when a solid swell is running. The surf is notably versatile and remains rideable at all stages of the tide, though it often provides the cleanest faces on a rising mid-tide. While the long beach helps to spread out the crowd, the main sections can become busy when the conditions are optimal. Surfers should exercise caution and stay alert for hazards such as strong lateral currents and the steep incline of the shoreline, which can cause heavy shorebreak. The best conditions reported for surf at Platja de Lloret occur when a Southeast swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the North.
