Empuriabrava in Catalunia is an exposed beach break with inconsistent surf, with summer often being flat. The best conditions come with a southeast swell and offshore winds from the northwest. Windswells are much more common than groundswells, and the beach produces both left and right-hand waves that are surfable at all tide stages. It very rarely gets crowded, making it a quieter option when conditions line up. The best month to surf Empuriabrava is January.
