Oued Cherrat in Rabat to Casablanca is an exposed beach and reef break that offers its most consistent surfing opportunities during the autumn and winter months, though it can provide dependable waves at any time of the year. It performs best when a strong northwest swell combines with offshore winds from the east, while the spot also offers some natural shelter from west winds and can remain rideable even in light onshore conditions. The waves arrive in the form of distant Atlantic groundswells, producing a variety of left and right-hand peaks across the sandy and rocky shoreline that can become quite punchy and hollow when a solid swell is running. The surf is notably versatile and remains rideable at all stages of the tide, though it often provides the cleanest faces on a rising mid-tide. While it is a reliable spot along this stretch of coast, the quality of the wave means it is often crowded when the conditions are optimal. Surfers should exercise caution and stay alert for hazards such as strong lateral currents, dangerous rips, and submerged rocks.
