Les Sablettes in Rabat to Casablanca is an exposed reef and point break that offers its most consistent surfing opportunities during the autumn and winter months, while the summer is typically flat. It performs best when a strong northwest swell combines with offshore winds from the south-southeast, though the configuration can also offer some natural shelter from northwest winds. Most of the waves arrive in the form of distant Atlantic groundswells, producing both a left-hand reef break and a distinct left-hand point break that can become quite punchy and hollow when a solid swell is running. The surf is notably tide-sensitive and remains rideable primarily around mid-tide, which often provides the cleanest faces and best wave shapes. While it is a reliable spot along this stretch of coast, it is a very popular wave, meaning the lineup can become quite crowded when the conditions are optimal. Surfers should exercise caution and stay alert for hazards such as strong lateral currents, submerged rocks, and sea urchins. The best conditions reported for surf at Les Sablettes occur when a Northwest swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the South-southeast.
