Dahomey in Rabat to Casablanca is a fairly exposed beach break that offers its most consistent surfing opportunities during the autumn and winter months, though it can provide dependable waves at any time of the year. It performs best when a strong northwest swell combines with offshore winds from the east-southeast. Most of the waves arrive in the form of distant Atlantic groundswells, producing a variety of left and right-hand peaks across the sandy shoreline that can become quite punchy and hollow when a solid swell is running. The surf is notably versatile and remains rideable at all stages of the tide, though it often provides the cleanest faces on a rising mid-tide. While it is a reliable spot along this stretch of coast, the lineup can become quite crowded and busy in the water when the conditions are optimal. Surfers should exercise caution and stay alert for hazards such as strong lateral currents and dangerous rips. The best conditions reported for surf at Dahomey occur when a Northwest swell combines with an offshore wind direction from the East-southeast.
