Playa de Ris in Cantabria is a reasonably exposed beach break that offers fairly consistent surf, though it tends to be mostly flat during the summer months. This spot provides both left and right-hand waves from a mix of groundswells and windswells; while it is best surfed around high tide, visitors should be mindful that it is likely to be crowded when working, with density sometimes reaching hazardous levels that make a helmet advisable. The best conditions occur when a Northwest swell combines with Southeast offshore winds, with December being the prime month for consistent, clean waves.
