📍 Local Knowledge
Maspalomas (Gran Canaria) is an exposed beach and reef break featuring both left and right beach peaks that only works once in a while, with summer providing the optimum conditions for surfing. The spot relies primarily on groundswells over local windswells, reaching peak performance at all stages of the tide when a south swell direction aligns with offshore winds blowing from the north. While summer as a whole offers the best opportunity for raw setups, the month of June historically offers the most consistent clean windows with light or offshore winds. When a rare quality session does line up, the break is often crowded, requiring surfers and forecasters to keep a close eye on the primary localized hazard of rocks along the bottom.
