The spot is equally receptive to groundswells and windswells, reaching peak performance around a rising high tide window when a north-northwest swell direction aligns with ideal offshore winds blowing from the south. While it offers dependable setups from autumn through spring, winter is the premier season overall for clean, rideable waves with light or offshore winds, with the month of October historically offering the most consistent early-season clean windows. The lineup here is rarely crowded, allowing surfers and forecasters to focus their attention entirely on navigating the primary localized hazard of shallow, sharp rocks.
