Castillo del Rubicón - Playa Blanca (Lanzarote) is an exposed reef break that does not work very often, with the summer months in particular tending to be flat. The spot is equally receptive to local windswells and distant groundswells, reaching peak performance when a west swell angle aligns with offshore winds blowing from the north northeast. Because the location offers no natural shelter from cross-shore breezes, it is highly sensitive to shifting winds. When a rare quality session does line up, the water can get quite busy, requiring surfers and forecasters to account for the primary localized hazard of rocks throughout the area.
