📍 Local Knowledge

Willow Creek in Monterey County is an exposed beach and reef break with inconsistent surf, generally offering the best conditions in summer. Offshore winds from the east complement distant groundswells coming from the west-southwest, producing both left and right waves on the beach break as well as on the reef breaks, adding variety. The spot is surfable at all tide stages and rarely crowded. Surfers should watch out for sharks, rocks, and rip currents. The most consistent clean waves usually occur during winter, especially in January.
