π Local Knowledge
White Point in Los Angeles is an exposed reef and rock-bottom break offering soft but unpredictable waves best suited for longboarding and experienced surfersβbest conditions typically arrive in winter. Offshore winds from the northeast groom incoming west and northwest swells, producing mostly right-hand waves that peel across uneven reef and rock shelves. The spot works best during mid to high tide, as low tide exposes sharp rocks and flattens the wave. It stays lightly crowded due to rocky access and local knowledge. Surfers should watch out for submerged rocks, sea urchins, and strong backwash. The most consistent clean waves occur in winter, especially January and February.
