📍 Local Knowledge

Ventura Harbor in Ventura County is an exposed beach and jetty-adjacent break offering variable but often punchy surf—best conditions typically arrive in fall and winter. Offshore winds from the northeast groom clean west, northwest, and southwest swells, producing both left- and right-hand waves over shifting sandbars along the jetty and harbor mouth, adding variety to the lineup. The spot works best at low to mid tide, and remains moderately popular given its approachable access and multiple peaks. Surfers should watch out for strong rip currents, boat traffic, and occasional backwash near the jetty. The most consistent clean waves occur during winter—especially January and February—with strong surf continuing into March.
