📍 Local Knowledge

Venice Breakwater in LA County is an exposed beach and breakwater break with fairly consistent surf, especially favored in winter. The best conditions come with offshore winds from the northeast and groundswells arriving from the west-northwest. The beach breaks offer both lefts and rights, with optimal surfing around low tide when the tide is falling. It can sometimes get crowded, and surfers should watch out for rocks, locals, and rips. The peak surf season for consistent clean waves is during winter, most often in January.
