📍 Local Knowledge

Trinidad State Beach in Humboldt County is an exposed beach and reef break with fairly consistent surf. It works best with distant groundswells from the west-southwest and offshore winds from the east. The break offers both left and right-hand waves, with optimal conditions typically around low tide. Despite reliable waves, the spot is rarely crowded. Surfers should be cautious of sharks, rocks, and rip currents. The most consistent clean surf is usually found in winter, particularly in January.
