Timber Cove in Sonoma is a fairly exposed beach break with consistent surf, especially during the winter months. It works best with groundswells from the northwest and offshore winds from the northeast, with some protection from northwest winds. The break primarily offers right-handers and is most reliable around low tide. When conditions are good, it can draw a crowd. Winter, particularly January, delivers the most consistent clean waves with light offshore winds. Surfers should be cautious of sharks, rips, and rocks. Optimal surf occurs when a northwest swell aligns with northeasterly offshore winds.
