Three Mile in Santa Cruz is a semi-exposed reef and point break that offers reliable surf, especially from November through March, with January and February often delivering the cleanest and most consistent waves. The break works best when west to northwest swells align with light offshore winds from the northeast, and conditions are ideal around mid tide on a rising tide. While slightly more mellow than its neighbors, it still attracts a solid group of locals, so visiting surfers should be mindful of lineup etiquette and potential localism. Shark sightings are not uncommon in the area, so staying alert in the water is advised.
