📍 Local Knowledge

Tamarack in San Diego County is a fairly consistent exposed beach and jetty break that performs best with a West swell and offshore winds from the Northeast. Winter, especially January, offers the most reliable clean waves, present about 52% of the time. The break features both left and right beach waves, as well as reef breaks with better rights, and is best surfed around low tide when the tide is rising. It can get crowded, and surfers should be cautious of very strong rips, undertows, and rocks in the lineup.
