📍 Local Knowledge

Sunset Point in Los Angeles County is an exposed point break that offers consistent surf year-round, with winter providing the most reliable conditions. The break works best on groundswells from the west, especially during low tide, and when offshore winds blow from the north-northwest. Despite its accessibility, it remains uncrowded most of the time. Hazards include rocks, rips, and occasional localism. The best conditions occur when a west swell lines up with northerly offshore winds. January is typically the optimal month for clean, rideable waves.
