📍 Local Knowledge

Steamer Lane–The Point in Santa Cruz is an exposed reef break known for very consistent surf year-round, with ideal conditions during winter, particularly in January. The spot works best when a southwest swell combines with offshore winds from the northeast and gains some shelter from northwest winds. It features a right-hand reef break that is best around a rising mid tide. Crowds are common when it's working, and surfers should be cautious of rocks in the lineup.
