📍 Local Knowledge

St Augustine Point in Santa Barbara is a fairly exposed beach and reef break that breaks infrequently and lacks a clear seasonal pattern. When it does work, the best conditions occur with a Southwest swell and offshore winds from the northeast. Groundswells are more common than windswells, and the spot favors a swell from the southwest. It is rarely crowded, offering solitude when the surf is up. Autumn, particularly January, offers the best chance for clean, rideable waves. Surfers should be cautious of submerged rocks.
