📍 Local Knowledge

Smith River and Kellogg Road Area in Del Norte County is an exposed beach break with inconsistent surf and no distinct seasonal pattern. Offshore winds from the east complement clean groundswells from the southwest, producing both left and right hand waves. The break is surfable at all tide stages and is rarely crowded. Surfers should watch out for sharks. The most consistent clean waves usually occur during winter, especially in January.
