Sharp Park in San Mateo is an exposed beach and pier break with very consistent waves year-round. It works best with groundswells from the west and offshore winds from the east, offering both left and right-hand waves. The break is most reliable around low tide and can get crowded, especially when the surf is good. Winter, particularly January, provides the most consistent clean conditions with rideable swells and light offshore winds. Surfers should be mindful of rocks, localism, and sharks. Optimal surf occurs when a west swell aligns with easterly offshore winds.
