📍 Local Knowledge

Scripps Pier in San Diego County is a reasonably exposed beach break with fairly consistent surf, best during winter, particularly in January. It works optimally when west-northwest swells align with offshore winds from the southeast. The break offers both left and right-hand waves and performs best around mid tide when the tide is rising. While it can get crowded, it's generally manageable. Surfers should watch out for rips and submerged obstacles.
