📍 Local Knowledge

Sapphire Street in LA County is an exposed beach and jetty break that does not work very often, with the best surf typically seen in spring. Offshore winds blow from the east, and clean groundswells are most common, ideally coming from the west-southwest. The break features all right-hand waves and performs best around low tide when the tide is rising. It is often crowded, and surfers should be cautious of rips and pollution. The best conditions occur when a west-southwest swell combines with offshore winds from the east. Winter, especially January, is the prime time for consistent clean waves at Sapphire Street.
