📍 Local Knowledge

Santa Maria Rivermouth in Santa Barbara is an exposed beach break with fairly consistent surf throughout the year. It works best with a southwest swell and offshore winds from the east, and can handle both groundswells and windswells. The wave offers both left and right-handers and is best surfed at mid tide on a rising tide. The best conditions are typically found during summer and often in February, when clean, rideable waves are most common. The spot is rarely crowded, but dangerous rip currents are a known hazard.
