📍 Local Knowledge

San Simeon Creek in San Luis Obispo is an exposed beach and reef break with inconsistent surf, offering both left and right hand waves at the beach break and a left hand reef break. Summer provides the optimum surfing conditions, with the best wind direction coming from the northeast. The spot tends to receive distant groundswells, ideally from the southwest, and works best around mid tide when the tide is rising. It is rarely crowded but surfers should be cautious of rips, rocks, and sharks. The best surf conditions occur when a Southwest swell combines with offshore winds from the Northeast. The prime time for consistent, clean waves with rideable swell and light offshore winds is during Autumn, most often in February.
