📍 Local Knowledge

San Onofre in San Diego County is a consistent exposed beach and point break that works best with a Southwest swell and offshore winds from the East-northeast. Winter, particularly November, offers the most reliable clean conditions, with rideable waves about 55% of the time. The break features both left and right reef setups and is best surfed around low tide. Groundswells dominate the surf here, with summer also providing good conditions. Crowds can be an issue when it's firing, and surfers should watch out for rocks in the lineup.
