📍 Local Knowledge

San Augustine in Santa Barbara is a quite exposed beach and reef break that offers fairly consistent surf throughout the year, with optimal conditions when a Southwest swell aligns with offshore winds from the north-northeast. It picks up both windswells and groundswells, and favors a swell from the southwest. Autumn, especially February, is the best time for clean, rideable waves. The spot is rarely crowded, but surfers should be cautious of hazards including rips, rocks, sharks, localism, and restricted access due to private property.
