📍 Local Knowledge

Samoa Peninsula in Humboldt County is a reasonably exposed beach break with consistent surf that can work year-round. It performs best with distant groundswells from the northwest and offshore winds from the southeast. The break offers both left and right-hand waves and holds up well at all tide levels. It can get crowded when the surf is good. Hazards include sharks, sea urchins, rip currents, and rocks. The most consistent clean conditions are typically found in winter, especially in January.
