📍 Local Knowledge

Point Reyes Beach in San Francisco Marin is an exposed beach break with fairly consistent surf, particularly during summer when conditions are optimal. The best wind direction is from the southeast, with some shelter from north winds. The surf here primarily comes from groundswells, and the ideal swell direction is from the west-southwest. The break offers both left and right-hand waves and is surfable at all stages of the tide. While it can get crowded at times, it remains a solid spot. Winter, especially January, provides the most consistent clean waves with light offshore winds. Surfers should be cautious of sharks, rips, and rocks. The best conditions occur when a west-southwest swell combines with southeast offshore winds.
