📍 Local Knowledge

Point Dume in LA County is an exposed beach break offering reasonably consistent surf year-round. It works best with offshore winds from the northeast and tends to receive more groundswells than windswells, favoring a southwest swell direction. The beach break provides both left and right-hand waves and performs best around mid tide. This popular spot can get crowded, and surfers should be cautious of dangerous rips. The best conditions occur when a southwest swell combines with offshore winds from the northeast. Winter, especially December, is the prime season for consistent clean waves with rideable swell and light offshore winds.
