📍 Local Knowledge

Point Arena (Arena Cove) in Mendocino County is a fairly exposed reef and beach break that works consistently, especially during winter, with December offering the best clean surf. It favors northwest swells and northeast offshore winds, producing both left and right-hand reef waves. Conditions are best on a rising mid tide. While often crowded when it's firing, surfers should be cautious of rips, rocks, sharks, localism, and a nearby wreck. Clean groundswells dominate, making it a solid winter destination for experienced surfers.
