Pico Creek in San Luis Obispo is an exposed beach and reef break featuring a right-breaking reef that offers fairly consistent surf year-round. It works best on mid rising tides and tends to receive distant groundswells with an ideal swell angle from the southwest. Offshore winds typically blow from the northeast, creating clean conditions especially when combined with a southwest swell. The spot is rarely crowded but surfers should be cautious of rips, rocks, and sharks. The prime surfing season is winter, with February often providing the most consistent clean waves due to favorable swell and wind conditions.
