📍 Local Knowledge

Pescadero in San Mateo is an exposed beach and reef break that offers consistent surf, with both lefts and rights breaking over beach and reef setups. The spot works best with groundswells from the southwest and offshore winds from the east, creating ideal conditions. While summer typically sees favorable conditions, the cleanest and most consistent waves are often found in winter, especially in January. Surf is possible at all tide stages, and the break remains mostly uncrowded. Hazards include rips and occasional shark sightings. The best surf occurs when a southwest swell aligns with easterly offshore winds.
