Perkos in Santa Barbara is a fairly exposed beach and reef break with consistent surf throughout the year, favoring groundswells with an ideal swell direction from the southwest. It works best with offshore winds from the north-northeast, and offers reliable conditions during Autumn, particularly in February. The spot is rarely crowded, even when the surf is good, making it a more low-key option. However, surfers should be aware of hazards including strong rips, rocks, localism, private access issues, and occasional shark sightings.
