📍 Local Knowledge

Oxnard Shores in Ventura County is an exposed beach break offering variable but often fun surf—best conditions typically arrive in fall and winter. Offshore winds from the east groom clean lines over wide, shifting sandbars, producing both left and right waves along this mile-long beach, adding variety and accessibility. The spot works across all tide stages, with low to mid tide often delivering the best shape, and remains mostly uncrowded thanks to its length and spread-out layout. Surfers should watch out for strong rip currents and occasionally rough conditions after rain. The most consistent clean waves occur during winter—especially January and February—with reliable surf continuing into March and a solid secondary window into fall.
