📍 Local Knowledge
Newport Point in Orange County is a fairly exposed left-hand point break that works intermittently, with summer offering the best surfing conditions. The spot primarily receives groundswells from the south-southwest and performs best around low tide. Offshore winds from the northeast help clean up the waves. Newport Point is popular and can get crowded when working. Surfers should be cautious of rips and pollution. Consistent clean waves are rare, mostly appearing during spring, especially in March, but the swell is generally small for most surfers outside those times.
