📍 Local Knowledge

New Jetty (South Jetty) in Ventura is a fairly exposed beach break known for its reliable surf and ability to work year-round. It performs best when a west-southwest swell meets offshore winds from the northeast, producing clean, mostly right-hand waves. The break is powered primarily by groundswells and holds up well at all stages of the tide. As a popular spot with consistent quality, it can get crowded when the surf is firing. Surfers should be mindful of strong rip currents, which are a known hazard here. The most consistent and clean conditions typically occur in winter, with January being the prime month for ideal surf.
