Moss Landing in Monterey is a fairly exposed beach break that frequently delivers surf, especially during the winter months. It works best with offshore winds from the east-southeast and benefits most from northwest groundswells. The break features both left and right-hand waves and performs best around mid tide as it rises. While it can get crowded at times, it generally remains accessible. Surfers should be cautious of rips, locals, and sharks. The best conditions occur when a northwest swell aligns with east-southeast offshore winds, with the most consistent clean waves typically seen in January.
