📍 Local Knowledge

Morro Strand in San Luis Obispo is a fairly exposed beach break that delivers dependable surf, especially during the autumn and winter months. It works best when distant northwest groundswells meet offshore winds from the east. The beach produces both left and right-hand waves and offers good surf at all tide stages. When conditions are favorable, it can become crowded. Common hazards include strong rips and the presence of sharks. The best surfing conditions are typically during winter, with January often providing the most consistent, clean waves.
