📍 Local Knowledge

Moonstone Beach in Humboldt County is a fairly exposed beach break known for its very consistent surf year-round. It performs best with groundswells from the northwest and offshore winds from the east. The waves break both left and right, with ideal conditions typically found around high tide as it rises. The spot is rarely crowded, offering a more relaxed lineup. Hazards include sharks, sea urchins, rip currents, and rocks. The most consistent clean surf is generally seen in winter, especially during January.
