Moonstone in San Luis Obispo is an exposed beach break known for its very consistent surf year-round. The best surf conditions occur when west groundswells combine with offshore winds from the east. The beach produces both left and right-hand waves and can work across all seasons, though winter—particularly January—offers the most consistent clean waves with light or offshore winds. While the spot is sometimes crowded, it remains a reliable destination for surfers looking for steady conditions.
