Monterey Wall (Monterey Bay) is an exposed reef break known for delivering punchy, unpredictable waves—best during winter and early spring (December to March) when northwest swells fire up. It’s most surfable during mid to high tide, which softens the waves over the shallow reef, and light southerly or offshore winds clean up the face. Conditions can shift rapidly, so surfers should be experienced, stay alert for strong currents, and respect the local lineup etiquette. Shark sightings aren't uncommon in the area.
