Malibu First Point in North Los Angeles County is an exposed point break over a mixed cobblestone and sand bottom, offering smooth, peeling right-hand waves—best conditions typically arrive in spring through fall (March to November). Offshore winds from the north to northeast help clean up south, southwest, and west-southwest swells, producing long, graceful rides along the point that consistently shape well for longboarding and noseriding. The spot works across all tide stages, with mid to high tide often delivering the best wave form, and it remains notoriously crowded due to its iconic status. Surfers should watch out for sharp submerged cobbles, water quality issues after rain, and aggressive lineup dynamics. The most consistent clean waves occur in summer and early fall—especially May through September.
