๐Ÿ“ Local Knowledge

MacKerricher is a remote, exposed point break that sees its best surf conditions during the fall and winter swell seasons. The spot primarily picks up west to northwest groundswells, producing fast-breaking, sometimes hollow waves over a **rock and reef bottom**. Ideal conditions occur with a mid-tide and light offshore winds from the east or northeast, which help clean up the swell and shape the waves. Surf is inconsistentโ€”only surfable during strong swellsโ€”and the sharp reef makes it a destination only for experienced surfers. Hazards include submerged rocks, strong rip currents, cold water, and difficult access, and as a result, the lineup is almost always empty. Winter, especially between December and February, provides the best chance for clean, powerful surf conditions.
