πŸ“ Local Knowledge

MacKerricher State Park’s Laguna Point in Mendocino County is a rocky and exposed point break that occasionally offers rideable waves during strong west to northwest swells, mostly in fall and winter. The wave breaks over a rock and reef bottom, creating fast, sometimes hollow sections when conditions line up. It works best with mid tide and light offshore winds from the east or northeast. Surf here is inconsistent and best left to experienced surfers due to sharp reef, limited access, and unpredictable currents. Crowds are very rare, but so are ideal surf days. Hazards include submerged rocks, strong rip currents, and cold water. Winter offers the best window for clean surf when large swells hit the coast.
