Lovers Point in Monterey is a moderately exposed point break that works intermittently, with the best surf typically in winter. Offshore winds come from the south, and the spot favors groundswells from the northwest, producing a left-hand point break. Even when surfable, it’s unlikely to be crowded. Surfers should watch out for rips and rocks. Optimal conditions occur when a northwest swell combines with south offshore winds, with the most consistent clean waves usually in December.
