📍 Local Knowledge

Linda Mar in San Mateo is an exposed beach break with reasonably consistent surf year-round, offering both left and right-hand waves. It works best with distant groundswells from the northwest and offshore winds from the southeast. Winter, particularly December, provides the most consistent clean conditions with light offshore winds. The break can become crowded when the surf is good, and surfers should be aware of localism, potential pollution, and sharks. Optimal conditions occur when a northwest swell aligns with southeasterly offshore winds.
