It works best with offshore winds from the east and receives more frequent groundswells than windswells, with the ideal swell direction coming from the west. The spot performs well at all tide stages and is rarely crowded, even when surf is up. Surfers should be cautious of rips, rocks, and sharks. Optimal conditions occur when a west swell aligns with east offshore winds, with winter—especially January—providing the most consistent clean waves.
